SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

 

The Board of Commissioners of Spalding County, Georgia and the Griffin/Spalding Board of Education  held a Joint Special Called Meeting on Monday, January 31, 2000 in the Commissioners’ office in the Courthouse Annex in the City of Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, beginning at 6:00 o’clock p.m. with Commissioners Earle Childres, Martha McDaniel, Merrill Massengale, Johnie McDaniel and Michael Kendall present.  Also present were County Manager Mike Ruffin, Deputy County Manager William Wilson and Tax Commissioner Sylvia Hollums.

 

The Griffin/Spalding Board of Education members present were Dr. Gayle Goodin, Tom Ramsey, Larry Mathis, David Phillips, Chairperson Debbie Hudson, School Attorney Tim Shepherd and Finance Director Jim Smith. 

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M.

 

County Manager Mike Ruffin led invocation.

 

The purpose of the joint meeting was to discuss homestead exemptions for Spalding County.  Ms. Sylvia Hollums, Tax Commissioner, offered explanation of current exemptions and reviewed several alternatives that are commonly brought up.

 

No action was taken at this meeting.
