PUBLIC HEARING
A
public hearing was held by the Spalding County Board of Commissioners in their
office in the Courthouse Annex, Monday, March 6, 2000 beginning at 5:45 o’clock
p.m. with Commissioners Merrill Massengale, Johnie McDaniel and Earle Childres present. Also present were Deputy County Manager
William Wilson, County Attorney Jim Fortune and Executive Secretary Phyllis
Doane. Commissioner Martha McDaniel and County Manager Mike Ruffin were absent. They were attending the NACO Convention in
Washington, DC. Chairman Kendall was
also absent.
Vice
Chairman Merrill Massengale called the meeting to order in the absence of the
Chairman.
The
purpose of the hearing was to receive comment on street lighting for Walnut
Grove Road, which was requested by the residents. The requirement of signatures of 2/3 of the property owners was
met with sixteen out of twenty-four parcels.
The cost of light will be $7.25 per light, a total of $50.75 per month
and the yearly cost per parcel will be $25.38.
Mr.
Jerry Statham, 121 Walnut Grove Road stated that he was in favor of this
lighting district. He said it is a
blind street and real dark and they need it for protection. He said pretty much everyone on the street
agrees that we need lights.
There
were no other comments made.
Upon
motion by Commissioner Childres, seconded by Commissioner Johnie McDaniel the
Meeting was adjourned.
