Ceramics
The Parks and
Recreation Department is pleased to announce Diana Clark as our new
Ceramics Supervisor. Diana comes to us via her Ceramics shop -
B & D Ceramics.
Also helping with Ceramics is Diane Pugh, who has been with the
ceramics program for 15 years.
Ceramic classes are
offered at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building -
everyone is welcome! In class you will learn how to clean the
seams off the greenware and prepare your piece for firing. You
will also learn about the many different painting techniques and
finishes you can choose for your ware; glazes, underglazes, opaque
stains, translucent, dry brushing, etc.
Each person is
responsible for buying their own brushes and any other tools they
might need. We keep a supply of those things available for
purchase. If you buy your greenware here, the purchase price
also covers the cost of all paint and firing to finish that piece.
You may also bring your own ceramics from home to work on.
Classes are Tuesday
night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and starting March 3rd, a new
Wednesday class will be offered from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Cost is $21.00 for 3
months and if you take both the Tuesday and Wednesday class the 2nd
class will be half price.
Below are some of
the pieces created by ceramics students.
