Club Hero - TEOYM
An exciting new after school program is now at City Park Community
Center. Club Hero is a program that teaches drug, alcohol, and
violence prevention. It also teaches life skills and
self-esteem building through a fun and entertaining curriculum.
The program meets from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
throughout the school year and is aimed at helping high-risk middle
school students.
Club Hero works on an
incentive program that allows students to earn points by achieving
accomplishments, such as improving grades, participating in
community programs, and doing chores at home. They then redeem
points for Club Hero items.
The program is
instructed by certified teachers from the Griffin-Spalding School
District. These teachers provide tutoring with an emphasis on
math and language arts. Parents are also encouraged to
participate in Club Hero. Teachers and parents meet monthly to
evaluate student's progress and to map out goals.
Club Hero is free to
all students and is funded by The Council on Alcohol and
Drugs.
