Dundee Lake Park
opened in 2005. The Dundee Lake Park property was originally
used as a grist mill and in 1940 was purchased
by Dundee Mills to supply water for its mill operations. In 1946 the
Dundee Association, a non-profit organization formed for the benefit
of Dundee Mills employees and their families
began us of the facility. Throughout it's existence the property was
limited to use by Dundee Mills employees and their families.
In 2004 several storms damaged the Dundee property forcing it to
close. At that time Spalding County proposed to purchase the
property and add it to the park system. On April 8, 2005 an
agreement was reached and Spalding County became the proud owners of
Dundee Lake Park.
IBesides 185 acres of
pristine recreation area, the park also has a lake, a picnic pavilion, a
playground, and a restroom facility.
