Christmas Tree
Donations
With the holiday
season quickly approaching, the Parks and Recreation Department is
seeking two tree donations to be used at Airport Road Park and
Orchard Hill Park for the annual Christmas displays. Leyland
Cypress is preferred and trees should be at least 30 feet tall.
If accepted, the department will be responsible for transporting the
trees to the locations. Donors will be appropriately
recognized. For more information please call Parks

New City Park
After School Activity Room
The new City Park
Kid's Corner After School Room is finished. We would like to thank
the following individuals, companies and organizations for their
generous donations:
- Library books
donated from Griffin Spalding County Library
- Computers were donated by Ben's Computer in Zebulon
- Printers & games were donated by Delphia Garland
- Bean Bag Chairs were donated by Walmart
- 2 rugs were donated by Kim Griffin@ OK Driver Improvement
- 2 rugs were donated by Tory and Nancy Daniel
TLC Fence Company
- Tables and bench donated by Goodys' Dept. Store
- Computer games, coloring desk and chair were donated by
Ann & Frank Stokes
- Coloring books and Fish aquarium donated by Angie Stokes
Cooling Centers
Spalding County Offers
Cooling Centers for Relief from the Heat Spalding County Fire
Department and the Parks and Recreation Department are collaborating
to provide citizens of Spalding County with a place to cool off. The
following Parks and Recreation Facilities are open to the public:
City Park Community Center, located inside City Park, Fairmont
Community Center located on Blanton Road and the Senior Citizen
Center on Memorial Drive. During the heat of the day from 12:00 noon
to 5pm Monday through Friday individuals looking for a place to cool
off are strongly encouraged to visit the centers. Those who have no
resource for transportation to the centers can call Kenny West or
David Smith at 770-228-2129. Firemen will visit the centers as their
schedule permits to provide support services and blood pressure
checks. For more information about Parks and Recreation programs and
facilities call 770-467-4750.
Dundee Lake Master Plan
The new Master Plan
for Dundee Lake was unanimously accepted by the Spalding County
Board of Commissioners at their meeting on April 3rd. The plan
was drafted by JB&A Inc, a planning firm out of Atlanta. The
master plan includes bike trails, a nature trail, an amphitheater,
playgrounds and much more.
