Home Delivered Meals
More than 9 million senior adults face the daily threat of going hungry. We as a community, have the power to help stop this growing epidemic. “Meals on Wheels” of Spalding County is a program that delivers nutritious meals to home-bound individuals who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. Priority is given to disabled, chronically ill, homebound, and/or isolated older adults.
Volunteers and paid staff deliver daily meals to clients as well as provide social interaction for elderly homebound residents. The Meals on Wheels program offers needed support to help participants remain safe in his or her own home.
The meals served meet nutritional standards by incorporating the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and providing a minimum of one-third of Dietary Reference Intakes.
This program is funded by the Federal Older Americans Act (OAA), the State General Revenue Fund, participant donation, and local funds.
