Freight Cluster Study

In partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and the City of Griffin, Spalding County staff has kicked off a study to identify opportunities to better promote economic development and improve freight operations within the County. The study will build on the current business climate within the County based on regional trends and best practices. The study is scheduled for completion in June 2020.

Below please find a project schedule with the overall tasks and milestones for engagement. As shown, the key upcoming milestones will include the following:

  • November 2019 – Present the results of the baseline evaluation and gather input on needs
  • Spring 2020 – Present the results of the traffic study and gather input on a universe of improvements to develop recommendations
  • Early Summer 2020 – Present the draft recommendations for comment

Stakeholder Steering Committee (SSC)

The SSC is comprised of organizations and existing community committee members involved in implementing any recommendations that may come as a result of the Study. These organizations include:
