Spalding County Leisure Services has been diligently searching for an individual to serve as the Senior Nutrition Program Coordinator. Doris Carter, who has extensive experience in nutrition, fitness, and non-profits has been selected to fill the position. Ms. Carter began her new position at the Spalding County Senior Center on July 31, 2019. Ms. Carter recently served as a fitness center manager and as a Project Manager at United Way of Greater Atlanta for over 10 years. While employed at United Way of Greater Atlanta, Ms. Carter served as President of Toastmasters Club and truly possesses a servant’s heart! Ms. Carter is passionate about health and wellness and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Senior Adult Community in Griffin and Spalding County as the Senior Nutrition Program Coordinator. The skills, talents and experiences she brings to this position will be beneficial to the Program. Her goal is to close the gap in services for seniors who are at nutritional risk due to poor health and limited food access by creating an environment to increase community partners. This goal will be accomplished through volunteer recruitment and will ultimately improve the quality of life among older adults in Griffin and Spalding County.
