LYONS PROMOTED TO BATTALION CHIEF

March 31st, 2015

Spalding County Fire Chief Kenny West announced today the promotion of Captain Willie Lyons to Battalion Chief. A panel style interview process was conducted and Captain Lyons was named to the position.

Battalion Chief Lyons began his career with the Spalding County Fire Department in January 1992 as a Firefighter. Throughout his career, Lyons has worked to obtain advanced certifications in Fire Investigations, technician levels of Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Rescue Technician, Trench Rescue Technician and Rope Rescue Technician. Battalion Chief Lyons is an active member of the Georgia Search and Rescue Team.

Battalion Chief Lyons was born and raised in Spalding County. He has worked his way through the ranks within the Spalding County Fire Department being promoted to Lieutenant in 1999 and Captain in 2005.

Spalding County Fire Chief Kenny West stated that, “Lyon’s knowledge and understanding of the position of Battalion Chief will serve this department and community well. Willie has been and will continue to be a valuable part of the Spalding County Fire Department.”
