SPALDING COUNTY 4-H’ERS RECOGNIZED AT ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

April 18th, 2019

Spalding County 4-H members and volunteers celebrated the year’s accomplishments this week at their annual awards banquet at Kiwanis of Griffin Center. More than 100 people attended. Spalding County 4-H Board Members and staff served as emcees for the evening.

The following Special Interest Clubs were recognized – Steve Wages of Community Science Investigation (C.S.I.), Tammy Rutledge and Hannah Rutledge of Edible Clovers, Roy McClain, Lisa Kelley, Chris Burrow, Esther Burrow of Project Shooting, Awareness, Fun, and Education (S.A.F.E.) BB & Air Rifle, Sam Rutledge and Michael Coble of Project S.A.F.E. Modified Trap, Alexa Robinson of Wildlife Judging, and Angie Deal and Renee Miller of Horse Quiz Bowl.

2018-2019 Master 4-H’ers were Gabriel Whitlock, Alyssa Laud, and Jilly Darden. Cloverleaf 4-H’er of the Year was Morgan Wages. Junior 4-H’er of the Year was Mark Dover. Senior 4-H’er of the Year was Elyce Wages.

Volunteer Leader of the Year was awarded Tim Crane. Friend of 4-H was New Salem Baptist Church. The 2019 Class of the Year was Ms. Nash at Griffin Christian Academy. Helping Hands Award went to Ms. Norrod at Griffin Christian Academy. Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Award was awarded to Ms. Schortinghouse at Griffin Christian Academy. Highest Participation in Cloverleaf DPA was Futral Road Elementary.

All Cloverleaf and Junior/Senior District Project Achievement participants were recognized. Alyssa Laud received the Laura Glover Martin Memorial Scholarship. Carrianna Simmons received the Arthur W. & Margaret G. Sauley 4-H Scholarship.
