SPALDING COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS TO PARTCIPATING IN “GIVE BURNS THE BOOT” DRIVE

October 21st, 2019

Beginning October 31 through November 2, the Spalding County Firefighters will be participating in the annual “Give Burns the Boot” drive. Firefighters will be in place at Walmart and Ingles from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. each of the dates.

According to Deputy Chief, Jamie Clark: “Fires and burn injuries can strike anyone at any time. The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is working to help prevent fire-related injuries and deaths through education. The GFBF also supports the burn centers in Georgia which allows them to offer the best possible treatment for patients.”

The GFBF was founded in 1982 by a group of Dekalb County Firefighters. Over the last 35 years, the GFBF has grown to include the entire state and has expanded its work to include all Georgians. In 1990, the “Give Burns the Boot” campaign was started to support the GFBF’s efforts. Since that time, firefighters have collected more than 14.5 million dollars.

Free fire safety and burn prevention information, is available through the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation at 404/320-6223 or visit its web site at www.gfbf.org.
