The morning dawned cool and damp, but the weather didn’t hamper the giving spirits of the Volunteers assembled. Employees from the Spalding County Senior Nutrition Program, along with volunteers from nearby Gordon State College, spent Friday morning “Lending a Helping Hand”, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday.
Mr. John Talley, a 50year resident of Spalding County and a Meals on Wheels Program participant, was chosen as the project recipient. Volunteers spent the morning in conversation, laughter and team work while performing light yard work clearing away leaves and small branches from the mature oak trees bordering Mr. Talley’s yard.
